St. Petersburg and the Penske Shuffle

The 2019 IndyCar season is officially under way. The usual suspects met on the street course at St. Petersburg, Florida last weekend to get the competition rolling. The Firestone Grand Prix was pretty much a Penske show with Will Power winning the pole and Josef Newgarden starting next to him and eventually taking the win. It was the 204th IndyCar victory for Roger Penske and the team. Team Penske had an off year (for them, anyway) in 2018, even with an Indy 500 win, and everyone knew the Captain wasn’t going to take that lying down. They have spent the off season upgrading and perfecting the entire Penske force.
Newgarden took control in the second half of the race and took the green flag ahead of Scott Dixon, the defending series champ. Will Power held on to 3rd and rookie Felix Rosenqvist driving for Ganassi Racing was 4th. Alexander Rossi was 5th, James Hinchcliffe was 6th, Simon Pagenaud was 7th and a pair of rookies finished 8th and 9th, Colton Herta and Santino Ferrucci. Jack Harvey rounded out the top ten. On March 24, the action moves to Austin, Texas for the Circuit of the America’s IndyCar Classic.

Boilermaker Hoops

Congratulations to the Purdue Boilermakers upon winning a share of the Big Ten regular season championship and Head Coach Matt Painter winning his 4th Conference Coach of the Year Award.  Led by sensational junior guard Carson Edwards, the Boilers complied a 23-8 record.
