INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation, awarded $322,000 grants to 11 not-for-profit organizations serving Marion County. Grants, approved by The Indianapolis Foundation’s board of directors, support organizations and programs that address substance abuse, homelessness, mental health, leadership development, food insecurity and local theater, among other issues.
Examples of programs supported in this grant round include:
• Stopover, Inc. to support the Transitional Living Program, which provides a safe living environment and wraparound services for youth, ages 16-21, at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
• Fight for Life Foundation to support the evidence-based Building Dreams program that helps children develop the social and emotional learning skills necessary to remain in the classroom, avoid conflict and increase focus on learning at several Center Township schools.
• Gennesaret Free Clinic, Inc. to support the clinic’s efforts to reduce breast cancer diagnoses among women of color by increasing well woman exams, clinical breast exams, diagnostic services and patient navigation and advocacy.
Grants were also awarded to Community Alliance of the Far Eastside; Domestic Violence Network, Dove Recovery House; Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc; The Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival; IndyHub Foundation, Inc; Second Helpings; and Workforce Inc (RecycleForce).
