Irvington Performing Arts Academy Launches Second Semester

IRVINGTON — The Irvington Performing Arts Academy will launch their second semester in mid-August. Classes started last February with a production of the timeless classic Annie with twelve amazing young actors with little to no theatrical experience. The students ages 6-18 performed for two audiences of over 300 people in late April.
Recently, the group held a musical theater camp at the Irving Theater, and are eager to start classes beginning mid-August and will offer a musical theater class featuring the Disney Classic Cinderella, a beginning theater basics class and a class for youth ages 11-18 called Theatrix that will allow students to write, produce and perform their own original play.  In addition to evening classe they are forming an exciting new homeschool program for families in the morning. These classes will feature music and theater based curriculum to fit family’s needs.
The IPAA is in the process of developing a scholarship program for families that will offer partial and full scholarships to families in need.  The cost is $225 for the musical theater and Theatrix program is $225 for the 10 weeks, and Theater Basics is $80 for 8 weeks.
There will be hold an informational meeting on Mon., Aug. 8 at the Emerson Avenue Baptist Church, 302 N. Emerson Ave. Homeschool families can meet at 10 a.m. and everyone is welcome to the 6 p.m. meeting. Easy online registration is available at www.irvingtonarts.com
All instructors are professionally trained educators that have experience working with youth. All instructors also go through the same background checks required by schools to ensure the safety of all children.
