From The Indianapolis Star, Sunday, March 19: Recruiting of unmarried men into the United States Army not witnessed since the stirring days of the Spanish-American War is to be undertaken at once by the Indianapolis recruiting station according to Lieut. Edward Coppock, officer in charge. Congress authorized an additional 25,000 men for the Army to support the campaign against Poncho Villa in Mexico, and the local recruiting station will be kept open seven days a week until 9:00 p. m. Recruits already have been sent to Indianapolis from Muncie and Richmond for further examination and more than twenty-five men were enlisted here last week. It is believed the list will be increased greatly this week. Lieut. Coppock is receiving scores of offers from young men who are eager to enter the service if short-term enlistments are offered.
