INDIANAPOLIS — The city of Indianapolis recently announced that law enforcement officials will target high-crime areas for the next year in an effort to reduce homicides, shootings, and violence.
The focus areas include three on the east side, including the area around 38th and Sherman, 42nd and Post Rd., and New York St. and Sherman. Three other neighborhoods on the west side of Indianapolis will also get special attention. Crime data compiled in the past two year reveal that those areas have a high rate of homicides, non-fatal shootings, overdoses, and calls for service as compared to other parts of the city.
