INDIANAPOLIS — The eighth local Center for Working Families recently opened a new site at Community Alliance for the Far Eastside Inc., 8902 E. 38th Street.
The centers provide one-stop convenience for families in search of help to gain and maintain employment and increase their earning potential; sign up for public benefits and earned income tax credits for which they are eligible; and increase their financial literacy skills with one-on-one coaching so they can build their assets long-term through savings and home ownership.
CAFÉ’s staff has already completed training and technology steps to launch the program. Already operating at seven locations, the Center for Working Families network consists of six other United Way agencies — John H. Boner Community Center, Flanner House of Indianapolis, Hawthorne Community Center, Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, Edna Martin Christian Center, Southeast Community Services and Ivy Tech Community College.
The new center is made possible with a grant of $75,000 to United Way of Central Indiana from The Glick Fund at CICF and $50,000 from Met Life.
