From The Indianapolis News, Wednesday, November 17, 1915: At a meeting of the executive committee of the local branch of the National Security League, yesterday afternoon, arrangements were begun for a mass meeting in Indianapolis to crystallize sentiment for national preparedness. William D. Brewster, field secretary of the National Security League, said many American citizens are asleep and do not realize the great danger this nation is in from a foreign foe. In his opinion there are more people who entertain the peace-at-any-price sentiment than is generally believed. Mr. Brewster and Dr. Henry Jameson, chair of the local branch of the league, asked Gov. Ralston to appoint the mayors of about 25 Indiana cities to act as committeemen for the league. Mayor Bell will appoint a local committee of 100 to cooperate with the work of the league.
