IRVINGTON — Where else on the east side can you buy plants, farm-fresh vegetables, fruit, artisan bread, eat fresh guacomole and chips followed by gourmet ice cream, haggle over antiques and collectibles, purchase handcrafted jewelry, soap, garden art, bags, plus pet pretty much every breed of dog and catch up on all the neighborhood scuttlebutt? Now in the 15th year, the Irvington Farmer’s Market has grown from just a few booths in a parking lot to a full-fledged festival once a month. This year’s season kicks off June 14 from noon-3 p.m. and will feature Audio Diner for your listening pleasure. The market is located at the middle north section of Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair St. The markets continue on the second Sunday of the month (July 12, August 9, September 13, and October 11).
The market is sponsored and organized by the Irvington Garden Club, which also sponsors the Irvington Garden Tour on June 28 (15th Anniversary). Visit the Garden Club booth at the market for more details about the tour. Proceeds from the farmer’s market and the tour go to support local beautification projects, including the gardens at the Benton House, the Kile Oak Habitat Garden, container plantings, and much more in Irvington.
