INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis art teacher Nathan Heck is looking to raise $15,000 by February 19 in order to take his video-based arts education program for youth, Artrageous with Nate, to the next level. Heck created Artrageous with Nate in 2011. His goal is to make art, science and history more approachable for children in order to encourage their creativity. Each episode features history of both the artist and technique as well as tangible activities for children. The first episode of Artrageous with Nate featured the work of Georges Seurat. Heck recently finalized the second episode featuring the work of Dale Chihuly in which a 30′ Chihuly-inspired art sculpture was created by local students and displayed in the Indianapolis Artsgarden and at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Heck is now hoping to raise funds in order to film and produce the third episode of the series, and financially support future success of the project. The next episode will focus on the work of Jackson Pollock. Funds are currently being raised through Kickstarter.com, a website that helps fund ideas and organizations through crowd sourcing.
