From The Indianapolis Star, Sunday, August 30, 1914: Physicians and social workers from many states have visited the City Hospital within the last few days to view the novel decorative scheme in the new children’s ward of the recently constructed Burdsall wings. Twenty-four oil paintings on canvas of boys and girls have been cemented to each wall, in rounded frames, so that one of the pictures is opposite the bed of each little patient. The paintings were drawn from life by Wayman Adams, the local portrait artist, and represent the various nationalities composing the Indianapolis population. The unique idea was originated by the members of St. Margaret’s Guild, a group of young women of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which has been connected with the hospital for many years and has given valuable service to the juvenile patients.
