From The Indianapolis Star, Tuesday, February 4, 1913: The magnificent new St. Vincent’s Hospital opened formally yesterday. It is an imposing red brick structure of five stories that fronts on Fall Creek Boulevard. The new hospital is a marvel for completeness and to the few visitors who were admitted yesterday, it was a never ending source of order. Approximately 250 persons can be cared for in the new hospital by a staff of 50 nurses. The work of the entire institution will be directed by 20 Sisters of Charity under the leadership of Sister Superior Mary Joseph. Opening day was busy with five major surgeries being performed in the fifth floor surgical rooms, and one birth occurred, a girl, born to Mr. and Mrs. Harry N. Connor. The baby was named Vincentia.
