INDIANAPOLIS — The Dept. of Labor recently gave a $5.1 million federal grant for Indianapolis nonprofits funds job training, second chance for former inmates. The recipiens were Keys2Work and RecycleForce, long-standing programs to connect former inmates with jobs once they are released. The grant will help serve at least 680 people between 18 and 24 years old.
RecycleForce, located at 816 N. Sherman Dr., pays former inmates through transitional employment and job training. Once they complete that training, Keys2Work helps them find a job that can lead to a career.
In February of this year, RecycleForce received a grant from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to receive $500,000 in Brownfields Job Training Grant funding. This funding will help RecycleForce recruit, train, and place workers for community revitalization and cleanup projects at Brownfield sites.
