AES Rate Increases for over 13%

INDIANAPOLIS — On June 3 of this year, AES Indiana filed a Regulatory Rate Review request with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC). The proposed rate increases will vary for business customers and residential customers. There will be two phases for the increases: a 7.5% increase for the second quarter of 2026, and a second phase for January 2027 of 6%, Residents could see a rate increase of $21 per month on their average bill.
AES last increased rates in April 2024. The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is reviewing the request and is scheduled to file testimony on September 9, 2025.

Girls Basketball Clinic July 17

INDIANAPOLIS —  The YMCA is hosting a unique, high-energy clinic — led by former WNBA players and members of the AAU Youth Basketball Advisory Council—is open to girls ages 12–18. The clinic will be held Thursday, July 17 at OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA, 5315 Lafayette Rd. The event is free to attend, but space is limited to 150 participants.
Young athletes will take part in on-court skill-building, team-focused drills and confidence-boosting activities, both on and off the court—all led by inspiring women who’ve paved the way. Plus, the G.O.A.T. Basketball Team will be on hand to add even more excitement and engagement!

Good Shepherd UMC Hosts Community Rummage Sale

INDIANAPOLIS — Good Shepherd UMC will host a “Deals and Steals” Community Rummage Sale July 18 and 19. Hours will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on both days. Good Shepherd UMC is located at  2015 S. Arlington Ave. For more information, visit www.gsumcindy.org
In addition to gently used clothing, furniture, collectibles, and household goods, there will be delicious baked goods, caramel corn, and refreshing drinks available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit Little Lambs Children’s Ministry.

Beech Grove Seeks Input on New City Plans

BEECH GROVE – Beech Grove officials have announced an open house on Thursday, July 24 from 5-7 p.m. so that residents can review and provide feedback on the Beech Grove Comprehensive Economic and Redevelopment Plan. The planning team will be available for discussion and information about the plans. The open house will be at the Hornet Park Community Center, 5245 Hornet Ave. in Beech Grove.
The primary goal of the Beech Grove Comprehensive Economic and Redevelopment Plan is to establish a shared vision for the future of our City. This Plan will serve as a policy reference for the Common Council regarding sustainable economic growth, vibrant community spaces, improved infrastructure, and enhanced quality of life.
