• FACE Low Cost Animal Clinic will hold a pop-up vaccine clinic on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Wes Montgomery Park, 3400 N. Hawthorne Lane. The cost is $5 per pet for DAPP, FVRCP, and rabies shots. Pets must be at least 6 weeks old. Dogs must be on a short leash and not left alone in cars. Cats must be in a secure carrier.
• Stop by any Indianapolis Public Library branch on Saturday, May 3, 2025, to pick up a free comic book in celebration of Free Comic Book Day. The Indianapolis Public Library has partnered with local comic book shop Downtown Comics, who generously provided the free comic books for this event. No Library card is required to pick up a free comic book. Comics for all ages will be available; supply is limited, and availability is subject to change.
• The Irvington Historical Society will be hosting a talk by Charlotte Ottinger-Flick at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4th at the Bona Thompson Center (5350 University Avenue). Books will be available for sale on that day as well. Seating is limited, so get there early.
• Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., is offering an architectural tour of Crown Hill on Saturday, May 10 at 4 p.m. This is a two-hour tour of the many unique buildings on the site. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance online at crownhillhf.org
• Indy Urban Acres is holding a plant sale from May 3-18 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at their site at 7700 E. 21st St. They will have vegetable and herb starts, and a selection of over 100 native plants such as milkweed and coneflower which are beneficial to pollinators. • Irvington Development Organization is asking for volunteers to clean up Washington St. through the neighborhood on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Meet at 5855 E. Washington, Unit 100, and bring your rakes, wheelbarrows, or other tools if you have them. There will be coffee and donuts for participants.
• The 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is being held on Saturday, May 3, and there will be thousands downtown. Expect delays and detours from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Sunday, May 4 is Indiana DNR’s Free Fishing Day, You won’t have to purchase a fishing license or trout/salmon stamps. Find out where to fish, visit on.IN.gov/fishfree
• Garfield Park Conservatory will host a free Critter Chat on Saturday, May 3 at 11 a.m. Bring the kids down to Blake’s Garden to meet the resident critters. If the weather is bad, it will be held in a classroom. Conservatory general admission is $4 per person cash or card. Blake’s Garden is a children’s garden space and is free, located just east of the Conservatory, 2505 Conservatory Dr.
