Applause!: Feb. 28-March 6

• The City of Beech Grove will hold a free drive-up recycling program and clean city initiative on Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m.-noon at City Hall, 806 Main St. in Beech Grove. They will have paper shredding, appliance drop-off, metal drop off, hearing aid and eyeglass recycling, and unused medicine disposal available. The city will host these free events quarterly.
• The Southside Art League will host a solo show by Indianapolis artist Becky Campbell from March 5-29 at the Off Broadway Gallery, 299 E. Broadway in Greenwood. Gallery Hours are Wed.-Sat. 11 a.m-3 p.m. Campbell will highlight some of her recent work in oils and acrylics.
• The Sharing Place, a food pantry in Lawrence, is asking for volunteers to help pick up donated food, assist families during pantry hours, restock shelves and help with home deliveries. The organization has seen a 37% increase in clients from 2023-24. To sign up to volunteer, visit lutheranfamily.galaxydigital.com. The pantry is located t 6501 Sunnyside Rd. and is run by the Foundation for Lutheran Child and Family Services.
• Guggman Haus is partnering with locally owned bookstore The Whispering Shelf to host a Grown-Up Book Fair on Saturday, March 1 from 1-5 p.m. at the brewing company’s headquarters, 1701 Gent Ave. There will be a great selection of sci-fi, fantasy, fiction, and non-fiction books. Guggman is also collecting gently used books for the store’s free bookshelf. The Whispering Shelf is located at 414 N. College.
• The Tennessee Williams classic play The Glass Menagerie will be at the Indiana Repertory Theatre March 11-April 6. The show is recommended for 7th grade and up. To order tickets, visit www.irtlive.com. The theatre is at 140 W. Washington St. Get tickets early, as this show will likely sell out fast.
• Footlite Musicals will present Caroline or Change from Friday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 16. The Tony Kushner musical involves a young African American maid in 1963 Louisiana, and how the changes taking place in the U.S. affect her and the family she works for. Tickets are $25. The theatre is located at 1847 N. Alabama St. Visit footlite.org to reserve tickets.
• Work on utilities to prepare for the Blue Line has started at Franklin and E. Washington, all the way to Shortridge. Expect delays as crews squeeze lanes to get the job done. This is one of the first segments, with many more to come. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2028.
• Lucas Oil Stadium will host the NFL Combine through March 2, so if you are interested in watching prospective players, you can scoot on down there. The south lot will have a fan festival, plus much more. While the event is free, you need to get the NFL OnePass to all the event times, information, and more. Visit nfl.com to get your ticket. The stadium is at 500 S. Capitol Ave. Expect lots of out-of-town guests and traffic downtown!
