• Come out to Brookside Park Family Center for an evening of fun Oct. 27, 28, and 29 from 5-6:45 p.m. (lights on) and 7-9 p.m. (lights off, scarier) each day. Event participants will receive goodie bags. A $5 admission will be collected at the entrance. Brookside Park is located at 3500 Brookside Parkway S. Dr.
• IMPD will host a Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 3-5 p.m. at the Finish Line Corporate Office parking lot, 3308 N. Mitthoefer Rd. Public safety officers, community partners, and many others will hand out candy to kids.
• Starting on or after Tuesday, Nov. 1, East Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive will be closed at Audubon. Citizens will be installing new infrastructure to assist in the diversion of stormwater to the DigIndy tunnel system, rather than the creek. This work is expected to last approximately 60 days. When Citizens completes the work on Audubon, construction will move to Graham Ave. where similar infrastructure work will also take place. This work is also slated to take approximately 60 days. Homeowners who live at these intersections will have access to their homes, and there will be detour signage.
• Bard Fest is wrapping up at the IndyFringe Theater, with productions of “Merry Wives of Windsor” from Oct. 28-30 at 8 p.m. at the Basile Theater, and “Richard II” from Oct. 28-30 at 8 p.m. at the IndyEleven Theater (same building). Tickets are $15 students or $20 adults. Visit indyfringe.org to reserve seats. The theaters are located at 719 E. St. Clair.
• IndyFringe will also host OnyxFest 2022, a celebration of new plays dedicated exclusively to the stories of Black playwrights. OnyxFest runs Nov. 3-6.
• If your business or non-profit group is interested in helping out our less fortunate neighbors, consider volunteering for NeighborLink, an organization that helps keep seniors in their homes by providing low-income and senior homeowners with home repairs they might not be able to perform or afford. • The Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash is back this year, and organizers hope it will be a sell-out event. This year it will be held on Thursday, Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving) beginning at 9 a.m. with a running course through Broad Ripple. Proceeds go to support the Wheeler Mission. • McCordsville will be home to the new McCord Square Downtown District, a $50 million, 48 acre project that officials hope will become a gathering space for the fast-growing community, When completed, the project will have apartments, commercial and retail development, improved roads, and much more. The construction has begun at the corner of Broadway Ave. (S.R. 67) and Mt. Comfort Rd. Work is expected to be complete by spring 2024.
