INDIANAPOLIS — Recently, the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center announced the recipients of the Indianapolis Neighborhood Grant Program. The program, which focuses on neighborhood spaces, art, and beautification, is intended to enhance engagement, collective action, and development for neighborhoods and neighborhood-based organizations. The effort was made possible through funding from federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars passed by the City-County Council.
Twenty-six recipients received a total of $219,503.52, with a maximum award of $10,000. Projects were scored and selected by a review panel consisting of eight neighborhood leaders, INRC Alumni, and members from Indianapolis-based community organizations. Projects will have one year to be completed upon receival of the award. The projects are spread throughout Marion County. A full list of projects and their organizing entities is below.
Among the recipients were Brookside CDC, Community Heights, Community Food Box Project, Emerson Heights Community Organization, Englewood, Community Alliance of the Far Eastside, Friends of MLK, Garfield Park, Historic Irvington Community Council, Historic Meridian Park, Holy Cross Neighborhood Association, and Martindale-Brightwood.
A second round of grant funding will open applications in October 2022.
