INDIANA — Sporadic outbreaks of a new variant of COVID-19 have affected other countries, spurring new restrictions in China and Macao, while other nations have eased or completely eliminated rules while keeping an eye on surges in cases. Currently, the United States is seeing a small uptick in cases since June, but nowhere near the peak set in January when over 337,000 new cases were reported to the CDC.
In Indiana, the Indiana Department of Health noted a slight uptick in positive cases throughout the state at the beginning of July. On July 11, 10 counties in southern Indiana were listed on the CDC as having a high community risk of spreading COVID-19, while others are shown to be at medium risk for exposure.
Individuals are encouraged to get their free COVID-19 vaccinations. To make an appointment, visit the Indiana Department of Health Web site, coronavirus.in.gov
