INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will extend the closure of the Delaware /11th Street to I-70 eastbound on-ramp until early summer.
Weather-related issues and material delivery delays caused bridge and wall foundation work to be pushed back. The ramp was originally scheduled to open mid-March.
When work is completed, motorists will be redirected to a new flyover bridge in the interchange, eliminating the major traffic shift currently in place. The traffic shift to the new flyover bridge is anticipated to begin early summer 2022. The flyover bridge is currently 85% complete and two additional bridge deck pours will occur this month.
As part of the Delaware/11th Street ramp closure, crews have installed bridge beams and will now begin pouring concrete. In total, 50% of all bridge beams needed for the North Split Reconstruction have been installed.
Superior Construction will continue to regularly monitor roadway conditions within the North Split throughout the duration of the project.
