INDIANAPOLIS — The Office of Public Health and Safety and the Indy Public Safety Foundation recently announce that Danyette Smith will lead a new domestic violence program in Indianapolis, funded by crime prevention dollars.
The program will be a connector for victims and survivors of domestic violence. Smith will lead an effort to empower existing organizations and guide victims to break free of domestic violence.
A survivor of domestic violence herself, Smith founded Silent No More, Inc. — an organization that provides emergency shelter placement, services, advocacy and more to help prevent abuse and gun-related deaths as a result of domestic violence. She served as director of strategic initiatives at the Domestic Violence Network and also worked as an academic advisor for 9th and 12th grade students and a Court Appointed Advocate. She is a contributing author of the book When A Woman’s Fed Up, using her voice to champion survivors around the world.
