Kristi’s Games Honor Volunteer

INDIANAPOLIS — On Oct. 19 from 1-6 p.m., the 12th annual Kristi’s Games will honor the legacy of the south side community volunteer Kristi Schultz Broughton. The family festival is open to the public and offers activities for all ages. Lutheran High School is located at 5555 S. Arlington Ave.
The Lutheran FamJam is a one-day event that features more than 25 games and booth activities for families, including an inflatable rock climbing wall and slide, moon walk, Colts football toss, pony rides, bowling, bake sale and many others. Food, entertainment and prizes are available throughout the day. Visit http://lhsi.org/activities/kristisgames for more information.
Kristi Schultz Broughton was cheerleading coach at Lutheran High School and Kindergarten teacher at Emmaus Lutheran School in Fountain Square. She was involved in fund-raising activities and envisioned a festival that would bring families together for fun and fellowship, as well as provide financial support for the Lutheran schools in the Indianapolis community. Kristi was killed by a drunk driver on September 8, 2001. Her family, friends and the high school have made her dream a reality by hosting this annual event, which has raised several thousands of dollars for Lutheran High School’s athletic programs and area association Lutheran schools, which are all privately funded.
There will be a post-Games concert from 6 – 7 p.m. featuring the band Northern Nights and Thomas Finchum, former Olympic diver and 2008 Lutheran High graduate. (Concert price: $5.00 per person.)
