Help Stop the Spread of COVID-19

According to the Surgeon General of the United States, Indianapolis could become a hotspot for COVID-19 infections. State and local officials have announced Shelter in Place orders, meaning all NON-ESSENTIAL travel is prohibited. Trips to the grocery store, pharmacy, medical appointments, and travel to and from essential work are permitted. Outdoor activities for exercise are also fine, as long as six-foot safe distances are maintained from other people. Indy Parks playgrounds are closed, and signs are posted.  All businesses deemed non-essential should be closed for the sake of public safety.
According to the Governor’s office, police will not stop you and there are no penalties for violating the order, for now. However, complying with the order will help slow the spread of COVID-19 and may save countless lives.
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds several times a day. Clean under fingernails with a brush.
• If you are unable to wash your hands, alcohol-based hand sanitizers are better than nothing. Sanitizing hand wipes can also be used. DO NOT FLUSH WIPES OR PAPER TOWELS DOWN THE TOILET.
• Cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw it away. Cough into your arm or crook of your elbow.
In addition, use sanitizing wipes on cart handles at stores. If none are available, wear disposable gloves and dispose of them in the trash. Viruses can live for hours on surfaces.
If you exhibit any of the symptoms of COVID-19, including headaches, body aches, fever, shortness of breath, and coughing, call your primary care physician immediately and self-isolate.
