• Author Ashley Petry will sign copies of her guidebook, 100 Things to Do in Indianapolis Before You Die, 2nd Edition, at Easley Winery, 205 N. College Ave. on Saturday, May 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is free and open to the public.
• Cumberland will have a cleanup day Saturday, May 4. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at Cumberland Town Hall, 11501 E. Washington St., to get assigned areas to clean. Afternoon volunteers can meet at noon. Trash bags will be provided.
• Celebrate World Labyrinth Day with a Picnic Potluck on Saturday, May 4 from noon-2 p.m. at the Rivoli Park Labyrinth located at 943 N Kealing Ave. Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and table service will be provided. You bring a dish, side, dessert, or drink to share. • The Dept. of Public Works has approved contracts to resurface some roads in the area this summer. One of the projects will be Shadeland Ave. from Kensington Dr. to the I-70 westbound ramp. It looks like 52nd St. from Sunset Ave. to College Ave. and Keystone to Allisonville will also be getting some much-needed attention.
• The Lyft rideshare company recentlyh announced that they are expanding their Grocery Access Program to Indianapolis. The initiative provides seniors and low-income families living in food deserts with discounted rides to grocery stores.
• Speaking of food, the farmers market season begins soon. The Garfield Park Farmers Market will open Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Garfield Park. The market will be held every Saturday throughout the summer.
• The Irvy 500 is coming to Irvington streets on Saturday, May 11 from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m A charity bike-a-thon, participants enlist a total of 5 team members, and raise $100 per person. Proceeds go to support the ICAN programs and services, including food pantries, clothing closet, assistance, and counseling. There will also be a kid’s bike decorating event, parade around Audubon Circle, pre-event ceremonies, and much more. For more information, visit www.icanirv.org
• The Pacers Bikeshare program is expanding beyond just downtown, with plans to add 275 more bikes and more stations along the trails as well as Garfield Park. They are also moving to a “pay as you go” plan, with fees set at $1 to ride and 15 cents per minute with no time limits. Holders of the $10 annual pass will continue to have unlimited 30 minute trips. The $10 annual passes will still be available for residents who receive SNAP benefits or who receive services from an EveryBody Rides partner organization.
