Eldrick Tont Woods, “Tiger” to you and me, won the 2018 PGA championship in a legendary comeback. The 42 year old former golfing phenomenon had been told that he was “washed up” and that he would never win again. In 1997 Tiger stormed in to the professional golf world like no one before. Because of his skin color (his father is black and his mother is Thai), every white guy feared that he had overturned the last bastion of white sports supremacy: golf. He seemed to be unbeatable. Then a series of personal setbacks in his life threw him off track and he joined the rank of PGA also-rans, much to the relief of white country club members everywhere. But in 2018 he has come roaring back. He now goes on to be part of the Ryder Cups USA team. So welcome back to the top Mr. Woods. Your charge to the front just maybe the greatest comeback in sports history.
Eagles Fly Over Colts
The Colts took it on the chin in Philadelphia last Sunday 20-16. Despite the fact that “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” the Horseshoe found themselves playing in a rainstorm that made everything soggy and muddy. The Eagles welcomed back their starting quarterback Carson Wentz from the IR. The Colts just could not get anything going, as the usual suspects, the offensive line, the running game, and mental errors shot down the team. The Eagle defense shut down the Colts offense and the Eagles offensive line dominated the defense. Rookie linebacker Darius Leonard did play another top notch game with 13 tackles and two sacks, but the secondary had a difficult time with the Eagle tight ends. As it was, the Colts were in a position to score a game winning touchdown with a minute to go, but the Eagle defense held on fourth down to preserve the win. The Colts meet the Houston Texans at home in Lucas Oil Stadium this coming weekend. The Texans are currently 0-3.
