IRVINGTON — The Irvington Historical Society will feature an exhibit of the works of the Forsyth family — William Forsyth, his daughter Constance, and son-in-law Robert Selby — from Sept. 7 through Nov. 11 at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibit on Fri., Sept. 7 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. with special guest Susan Forsyth Selby Sklar, grand-daughter of William Forsyth. The event is free and open to the public.
William Forsyth was an influential artist and art teacher in Indianapolis, and was one of the important Hoosier Group of artists in the early 20th century. He won several medals for his works in the late 19th century and early 20th century. He lived in Irvington from 1906 to his death in 1935.
