INDIANAPOLIS – Flanner Buchanan will conduct a Memorial Day service on Mon., May 28, at the Hoosier Patriot Memorial on the grounds of Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 East Washington Street.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Hoosier Patriot Memorial, Indiana’s first memorial to the Indiana National Guard and built through donations from private citizens. The centerpiece of memorial called “The Rescue” was created by Indiana artist Bill Wolfe who will be in attendance.
At 9:30 a.m., a musical patriotic medley will be performed by the 38th Division Brass Quintet and the Memorial Day Program will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend this free event.
Speakers for the event will include the Adjutant General of Indiana, Major General Courtney P. Carr and the Director of Veteran Affairs, Jim Brown.
The ceremony will include the Ceremonial Unit of the Indiana National Guard coupled with howitzer salute by the Indiana National Guard.
