INDIANAPOLIS — The establishment of the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council (MYLC) was recently announced. The Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council will bring together a group of 25 Indianapolis teens to provide insight and feedback for the Mayor and city leaders on community issues. With this Council, Mayor Hogsett hopes to assist with the development of the next generation of Indianapolis leaders, elevating young people’s role in making Indianapolis a safer, stronger, and more welcoming city.
Indianapolis teens who are currently in their sophomore or junior year of high school can apply to be a part of the group and can serve for up to two years as juniors and seniors. The MYLC will consist of 25 members and will be representative of all nine townships, as well as Indianapolis’ rich diversity. Interested students can learn more about eligibility requirements and member expectations, as well as download an application packet via My.Indy.Gov. Lilly Endowment has made a $220,000 grant to MCCOY to fund the launch of the council and staff positions during the first two years and Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) has committed $30,000 in 2018-19 to support the program.
