INDIANAPOLIS — Starting March 1st, families can apply for the Indianapolis Preschool Scholarship Program and the On My Way Pre-K prekindergarten program. Together, the programs are expected to serve more than 1,800 Marion County children. To apply, Marion County residents can visit www.onemywayprek.org and fill out just one application for consideration by both programs.
Families must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply:
• The family must reside in Marion County.
• The child must be at least 3- or 4-years-old by August 1, 2018.
• Parents or guardians in the household must have a service need (e.g. working, going to school, or attending job training).
Priority will be given to families that earn less than 127% of the federal poverty level (for example: about $31,000 for a family of four). Applications will be processed on a first come, first serve basis until all scholarships are awarded. United Way of Central Indiana serves as the Indy Preschool Scholarship Program administrator, overseeing the application, outreach, and evaluation processes.
Families that receive a scholarship may choose from any of the eligible, high-quality preschool programs in Marion County, rated as a Level 3 or Level 4 on Paths to QUALITY. Approved preschool providers may be located in a public or private school, licensed child care center, licensed home, or registered ministry. Families may choose from a program that is full-day or part-day, as well as from programs that end with the school year or continue through the summer.
