INDIANAPOLIS — Community Health Network Foundation officials recently presented Rollin Sage with the Jack Heiney Award for Philanthropic Leadership. Sage, 86, is the eighth recipient of the award in its 19 years of existence.
Since the early 1980s, Sage has served in a variety of volunteer roles at both Community Hospital East and Community Hospital North. Currently, twice a week, he greets patients and guests at the main reception desk at Community Hospital North, helping to put them at ease in the hospital setting.
In his professional career, Sage served as a management professional and, since retirement, has applied his business skills in his work as a Community Hospital North Auxiliary Board member and past chair. His leadership has improved the auxiliary’s participation and increased fundraising efforts, offering support for a variety of Community Health Network patients including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit mothers and nurses, oncology patients, babies born with neonatal abstinence syndrome and families grieving the loss of a loved one.
In addition to his contributions of time and talent, Sage has been a dedicated donor to Community Health Network Foundation since 1989. Most recently, Sage made a significant gift to the Community Hospital East Reinvestment Fund in memory of his daughter and son-in-law, both long-time employees at Community Health Network who passed away in recent years.
