From The Indianapolis News, Tuesday, June 12: Automobile parking on Monument Circle has raised protests with Indianapolis authorities from the Indiana Commandery of the Loyal Legion, the Indiana Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic, and others who believe the monument should be viewed from all points free of obstructions. To this end, Gov. Goodrich forwarded to Mayor Bell a copy of resolutions adopted by the Indiana State Soldiers and Sailors Monument Association asking that automobiles and other vehicles be prohibited from parking on Monument Circle. The city has tried regulating automobile parking in the approaches to the monument in order that the view might not be obstructed from streets leading to Monument Circle. Mayor Bell said a thorough investigation of traffic conditions around the monument would be made, and indicated favorable action might be taken on the requests.
