INDIANAPOLIS — Scecina Crusader football players spent an afternoon in July visiting with patients and patients’ siblings at the Child Life Zone at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Downtown Indianapolis. Crusaders football coach Ott Hurrle said he wanted the players to have an experience dealing with children who are undergoing difficulties.
Child Life Zones are state-of-the-art, therapeutic play areas inside hospitals where pediatric patients and their families can play, learn, laugh and relax. Riley’s Child Life Zone was unveiled last year by country music star Garth Brooks. Riley was chosen by Brooks and his Teammates for Kids Foundation to host the organization’s 11th — and largest — Child Life Zone in the country.
