INDIANAPOLIS — The 2016 NESCO Games will be held from June 18 – June 25th. Each summer, the Near Eastside Neighborhoods come together for a week of neighborhood-friendly, Olympic-style games. These events celebrate friendships, good-natured competition, light-hearted fun, and community cooperation. Events such as basketball, softball, volleyball, street hockey, dodgeball, table tennis, corn hole, cooking, frisbee golf, running, cards, and trivia allow for a week of great fun for all who live, work, or worship on the Near Eastside.
Individuals and teams enter events in an effort to try and win a medal for their neighborhood or Near Eastside Organization. Like the Olympics, each medal (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) is worth points (5, 3, and 1 respectively). At the end of the week of competition, the neighborhood or organization with the most points wins the NESCO Neighborhood Games. The top three neighborhoods will have their name engraved on the annual trophy.
The games are held at various locations on the near eastside, including the John H. Boner Center, Spades Park, Ivy Tech, Highland Park, Paramount School of Excellence, Brookside Park, the Golden Ace, and many other locales.
The NESCO Games also needs sponsors. Individuals, businesses, organizations, or groups can sponsor at levels from $5 to $1,000. Sponsorships help pay for the medals, refreshments, posters, and more.
