From The Indianapolis News, Thursday, May 4, 1916: Plans have been completed for the mass meeting tomorrow night of the friends of Irish freedom, at Morrison Hall, 52½ Monument Place. It will be a memorial meeting for the three leaders of the Irish revolution (Easter Rebellion) who were executed by British officials. At a meeting of the executive committee of the Sons of Irish Freedom last night, the three leaders whose lives were taken – Patrick H. Pearse, Thomas J. Clark, and Thomas MacDonough – were praised as great martyrs to the cause of Irish liberty. A large attendance at the memorial meeting is anticipated. Many telegrams and telephone messages have been received by committee members from persons in and out of Indianapolis expressing sympathy with the cause they represent, and many promising to attend the memorial meeting.
