INDIANA — Hoosiers will be paying more for tobacco products and gasoline after July 1.
Taxes on cigarettes will increase from $1 per pack to $3 per pack. Smokeless products will increase 10 cents, and e-vape costs will rise 15%. Cigars will see a 6% increase in taxes. It is the first tax hike for tobacco products since 2007.
Indiana gasoline excise taxes will go up one cent per gallon, with a total tax of 36 cents. The gasoline sales tax will also increase by about one cent per gallon, totalling 17 and a half cents to costs. The federal gas tax add 18.4 cents per gallon.
Total state and federal taxes per one gallon of gas is 72.9 cents.
The Indiana legislator voted to increase these taxes in this year’s session.
