INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Music History Project has received its first sponsorship from The Jim Irsay Collection. The funding will help the nonprofit expand its programming this year while celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Jim Irsay is best known as the owner and CEO of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, but his Jim Irsay Collection stems from his passion for rock music, American history and pop culture. Irsay has amassed a robust collection of artifacts that make up The Jim Irsay Collection. It includes instruments and items owned and used by the greatest artists in music history including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Prince, James Brown, Eric Clapton, Janis Joplin, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix and many more.
The Indiana Music History Project has a public museum gallery located in Indianapolis filled with memorabilia, an audio kiosk and more. The project also has travelling exhibitions throughout the year including one currently at the Central Library in Indianapolis focusing on Gary’s The Jackson 5 and Indiana Hip Hop. More information about the project can be found at www.indianafound.org.
