St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild’s Decorators’ Show House Preview

I had the pleasure of getting a sneak preview of the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild’s Decorators’ Show House and Gardens at 4521 Sylvan Rd. This is the Guild’s 63rd Home Tour, the longest running home tour in the country.
The house is an English Tudor style with stucco and a slate tile roof – this is my favorite style of house and this one is exquisite!
All the proceeds benefit Eskenazi Health. This unique Guild of Women have volunteered their time and talents to this project every year. I’ve been going on the home tour for the past 25 years. There are other tours out there, but none as wonderful as this one. Every nook and cranny and room is decorated by a professional team. Many are new designers and others have been doing the home tour for decades. You will see the most current trends as the designers blend their talents together to create a home that is stunning.
As you enter the home you will be greeted by an extraordinary foyer with it’s black and white checked marble floor. The designer had two magnificent hand-carved tables made – like nothing you’ll ever see anywhere else with hanging lights that enhanced the beauty. The walls have hand blown lily pad shapes with painted fish swimming around – unbelievably creative.
The living room is massive but cozy with each area complementing the other. Local artists work is featured throughout the home including Kyle Ragsdale (Harrison Center) who’s painting is over the sofa in the living room (from the owner’s collection). And some of Kyle’s work was chosen to sell for this fundraiser (displayed in one of the upstairs hallways). Beth Clary Schwier (Fine Art Gallery- Irvington) has wonderful pieces flanking the main stairway.
The main bedroom is another massive room, but so inviting with House of Hackney (from the UK) fabrics and wallpapers.  The adjoining bathroom was completely redone with fabulous tile work.
The greenhouse  is spectacular! Designed by David Stroymeyer of Allisonville Home and Garden by Sullivan. The designer took a seldom-used spot and made it an incredible place. With the collection of hanging plant balls in the center to the luscious plants and quaint seating, it was my favorite space. What a great place to have a party!
QR codes will be in each designer’s room for you to contact and tags will be hanging from items to scan for purchasing.
This is just a sampling – there are dozens of spaces beautifully decorated in this gorgeous house.
The landscape designers have been busy turning the outdoor space into a dream come true.
