From The Indianapolis Times, Wednesday, December 20, 1922: Santa Claus will begin work early and stay on the job overtime in Indianapolis this Christmas season. Community Christmas entertainments, with a tree and with candy and presents for all the children, will be held at each of the thirty-one fire stations beginning this Saturday and continuing throughout next week. A big Christmas tree, covered with colored lights and with a large star on the top, will be placed in the center of University Park. In addition to these celebrations, clubs and other organizations will help Santa bring joy into the lives of needy children by providing them with yuletide parties. Carols will be sung throughout the city on Christmas eve and on Christmas morning six groups of musicians will go through the streets with trumpets, heralding the advent of the day.
