IndyFringe Highlight: Timothy Mooney in “Breakneck Comedy of Errors”

INDIANAPOLIS — Veteran actor Timothy Mooney is taking on the impossible in tackling Shakespeare’s craziest farce, “A Comedy of Errors” in the one-man show, “Breakneck Comedy of Errors,” at the Indy 11 Theatre (719 E. St. Clair St.) for four performances only, from Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 28.
This one-man “Comedy of Errors” finds Tim Mooney taking on 13 different characters, including four pairs of twins! (He threw in two extra sets of twins just to up the challenge.) Tim explains, “It’s a play about mistaken identity with all the identities being played by the same person. My challenge was to make sense of all of this in a way that the audience would immediately grasp the evolving situation, but still feel the delight of puzzling through the criss-cross of confusion.”
Tim is no stranger to Indy audiences, bringing five plays since 2010, including “Lot o’ Shakespeare,” “The Greatest Speech of All Time,” “Breakneck Hamlet,” “Breakneck Julius Caesar” and last year’s hit, “Shakespeare’s Histories.”
“Breakneck Comedy of Errors” is Tim’s twelfth one-man play, and first one-man farce, captured in a flurry of character/costume changes, entrances, exits, twists and turns.
When he isn’t performing for festivals, Mooney brings his special take on classical theatre to colleges and high schools across the U.S. Amid the pandemic, Tim established, “BreakneckShakespeare.com” where eight of his one-man plays are now available for viewing. Tim is the adaptor of 17 of the plays of Molière, and author of the acting textbook, Acting at the Speed of Life; Conquering Theatrical Style.
Tickets to “Breakneck Comedy of Errors” are $20 for adults, $14 for Students & Kids and with $12 Daily Rush Tickets available. Visit indyfringe.org to reserve seats in advance, as many times, Mooney’s shows sell out. More on Tim can be found at timmooneyrep.com/
