Get Revved Up for the 165th Indiana State Fair July 29-August 21

INDIANAPOLIS — As the Indiana State Fair revs up for 2022, it will dedicate the theme for this year’s event to Celebrating Indiana’s Automotive Excellence, presented by Tom Wood Automotive Group. The 165th Indiana State Fair will take place Friday, July 29th through Sunday, August 21st and will continue its long tradition as Indiana’s favorite all-encompassing summer destination event.
Indiana’s rich automotive tradition is a signature source of pride for Hoosiers, and the Indiana State Fair will celebrate Indiana’s worldwide recognition for its automotive history and contributions to the industry. Fairgoers can expect to see iconic, celebrity cars from movies and books, in addition to world-class classic car
collections showcasing Indiana-made vehicles. Celebrity cars on display will include the Batmobile, the Ghostbuster Ectomobile, a curated collection of early 20th century cars with roots in Indiana, and much more. There will also be hands-on experiences involving racing.
In addition to the fair favorite foods, midway attractions, and many free shows featuring big name talents, the Indiana State Fair also showcases Indiana’s rich agricultural traditions with 4-H exhibits, livestock and agricultural and horticulture exhibits, Pioneer Village, and arts and crafts from Indiana residents.
The Indiana State Fair also hosts the Indiana Brewer’s Cup, which involves professional beer, cider and mead makers in the Midwest and attracted over 1,400 brews for professional judging this year. Flix Brewhouse in Carmel was recently named the Indiana Brewery of the Year, and the Grand Champion Brewer of 2022. For the second year, the fair also has hosted the Indiana State Fair Wine & Spirits competition, which drew over 250 wines and 30 whiskeys to compete for Best in Show. Judging of the wines and spirits took place on July 15 and winners will be announced soon. Head Judge Charles Miller noted that the competitions compliment the overall goal of the Indiana State Fair. “This is an important aspect of Indiana agriculture,” he stated. Next year, he expects the spirits competition to expand into other potables made in the Hoosier state, such as vodka, gin, and rum. The Indiana State Fair offers beer, wine, and selected cocktails in the Taproom and other locations to those who are 21 and older.
Back by popular demand, the State Fair Hot Air Balloon Night Glow, presented by PNC Bank, returns on Opening Day, Friday, July 29 at 9pm. This event is free with Fair admission. Don’t miss the magical sights of this great event.
The Hoosier Lottery Grandstand schedule is packed full of fun events, including fairgoer favorites such as the State Fair Championship Rodeo, Demolition Derby, Harness Racing, and so much more! Check out the full schedule at IndianaStateFair.com
