Former E. District Commander Passes Away

INDIANAPOLIS — Former IMPD East District Commander Captain Michael Bruin passed away Thursday, June 9 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his wife Cheryl and children Eric and Emily. He was 61 years old.
Captain Bruin retired from IMPD on May 2 after serving the district for almost 36 years.
Visitation will be held on Thrusday, June 16 from 4-8 p.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17 at 11 a.m. also at Crown Hill, and burial will take place at the Bruin Family Cemetery in Rockville. The funeral procession will pass by East District Headquarters on Shortridge en route to the cemetery.
