• Retired Holy Spirit pastor Msgr. Paul Koetter lost his battle against ALS May 16. All who knew him will remember him as Father Paul, a devoted servant of the church. He will be missed by many in the community.

• There will be a free Community Shred Day on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East 38th St. library branch, 5420 E. 38th St. This is an opportunity to shred documents you’d rather not throw in the trash.
• Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside will host a flea market sale on Sunday, May 22 from noon-3 p.m. at their headquarters, 1505 N. Sherman Dr. All items are pet-related, including leashes, harnesses, bowls and much more. Nothing is priced over $5. Proceeds go to support FIDO’s mission to help pets and their people.
• Indiana Landmarks is hosting its Mid-Century Tour of outstanding properties that characterize the landscapes of the 50s-70s. • The big red box of food for the needy placed at 10th and Arlington has been moved to the North Audubon Circle in front of the Irvington Methodist Church. Thank you to everyone who helps keep it stocked with nonperishables for the needy.
• The Outdoor OutBack Stage at the District Theater, 627 Mass Ave., opened last weekend, and is gearing up for more events. The next show will be Motown Under the Stars on Saturday, May 28 at 6 p.m. with Brenda Williams and the IndyBluesRevue Band. General admission is only $25 per person. • Also a big heads-up for District Theatre: Ben Asaykwee will be starring in “Every Brilliant Thing” at District Theatre June 17-26. This is a not-to-be-missed one person show.
