INDIANAPOLIS—The Indianapolis Board of Public Works recently voted to approve various items including awarding a $16.8 million construction contract to Beaty Construction, Inc. for the expansion of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail will expand along both South Street and Indiana Avenue. The South Street expansion will be from New Jersey Street to Capitol Avenue, creating and improving access and connection around Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indiana Convention Center, and near Southside neighborhoods. The Indiana Avenue expansion will begin at the Madam Walker Legacy Center on Indiana Avenue and continue north to 10th Street, heading west to the 16 Tech Innovation District.
The Board of Public Works also approved a $1.2 million construction contract to Calumet Civil Constructors, Inc. for a package of downtown road resurfacing projects. Roads included in this package are South Street from West Street to Capitol Avenue, Capitol Avenue from McCarty Street to South Street, and Missouri Street from I-70 to South Street. Work is expected to begin this month and should be complete by the end of the year.
