Former Lawmaker Dan Forestal Passes Away

INDIANAPOLIS —Dan Forestal, former member of the Indiana House of Representatives for the 100th District, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 14. There is an ongoing investigation into his death, which took place in a hotel in northwest Indianapolis. He was 38.
Forestal was born March 3, 1983 on the east side. He attended Little Flower Catholic Grade School and Roncalli High School, graduating in 2001. He received an associate’s degree in fire science from Ivy Tech, plus degrees in public safety and public administration. He served as a lieutenant with the Indianapolis Fire Department and was a bailiff in Marion County Superior Cout 11 and as a guard at Marion County Jail II. He also ran a small business buying and rehabbing abandoned homes in the area.
Forestal was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2012, and held the office until he resigned.
He is survived by his mother Marianne Forestal Dunn, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation was on July 20, and burial was on July 21. Memorials in his name may be made to Community Fairbanks/Supportive Living Program c/o Robin Parsons, 8102 Clearvista Parkway, Indianapolis IN 46256.
