Beef & Boards Presents “Smoke on the Mountain” Through June 20

INDIANAPOLIS — Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre reopened with one of its most popular offerings: Smoke on the Mountain. The Bluegrass Gospel musical opened May 4 to reduced audiences and will be on stage through June 20.
Smoke on the Mountain is the story of the Singing Sanders Family who is invited to perform at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by its new pastor, the Rev. Oglethorpe. Filled with energetic bluegrass and Gospel tunes, unforgettable stories, and lovable characters, Smoke on the Mountain is a heartwarming reason to return to live theatre.
Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre is the first indoor theatre in the Midwest to have its production’s safety protocols approved by Actors Equity Association. Measures include distanced audiences at 50% capacity, staggered arrival times, and temperature checks of individuals upon arrival. Plated meals will be served in lieu of the traditional buffet, and masks are required at all times unless eating or drinking. Air quality in the theatre exceeds CDC standards, with a 25% higher rate of air exchanges than required — including 2.5 outdoor air changes per hour — and UV lighting in all air handlers. Ample hand sanitizer is available and strict cleaning and sanitizing protocols are in place throughout the theatre.
The remainder of Beef & Boards’ 48th Season will include several productions unable to be presented in 2020. The Sound of Music, the iconic work of Rodgers and Hammerstein, opens June 24 and is on stage through Aug. 15. Disney’s Newsies will be on stage Aug. 19 through Oct. 3. Opening Oct. 7 is Phantom, which is on stage through Nov. 21.
Returning to celebrate the holidays is A Beef & Boards Christmas, the original variety show sure to get audiences in the spirit of the season. Join Santa and his friends for this family-friendly production on stage Nov. 26 through Dec. 23.
