The Gonzaga Bulldogs were the story of the 2021 NITY. Would they be the first team since the 1976 Indiana Hoosier team to go undefeated? It was hard not to love the Bulldogs, from a small university in Spokane, Washington. Even Bob Knight was rooting for them. But it was not to be.
In the title game Baylor with it’s roster of transfers took it to the Bulldogs 86-70. It really wasn’t that close. Baylor Baptist University from Waco, Texas has been building strength throughout March Madness and it paid off for them.
Truthfully Gonzaga had a season for the ages and there will be those who say that Baylor did not win the championship so much as Gonzaga lost it. However, it was Baylor’s win in basketball history and it will be the Baylor Bears who will be recorded as the 2020-21 Men’s NCAA Basketball Champions.
Chris Ballard is “Thrifty” A recent article in Yahoo sports revealed that the Colts are last in the NFL in handing out signing bonus money to players they add to their roster. Chris Ballard refused to get into free agent bidding wars with other teams. He re-signed some Colt free agents T. Y. Hilton and Xavier Rhodes. Supposedly he is seriously considering re-signing edge rusher Justin Houston. After the draft he will consider some of the second waive free agents.
He got more heat from the media this off season than in past years because of the amount of money the Colts have in cap space — second in the league. The media would love him to spend a lot of money on a big name free agent but Ballard simply won’t.
The Colts need a left offensive tackle to replace the retired Anthony Castonzo. They need a constant edge rusher, a solid cornerback, a speedy big play wide receiver (who doesn’t?), a tight end and a backup quarterback. Ballard will find these players through the draft or free agency. Either way he won’t break the bank.
