Irvington Historical Society Features “Irvington Commercial II” Exhibit

IRVINGTON — The Irvington Historical Society is currently featuring an exhibit, Irvington Commercial II, highlighting the history of twelve properties that have made up the unique character of the historic neighborhood. Many of them started out as residences and are now commercial properties.

Properties featured in the exhibit online include the Children’s Guardian Home (now Irvington Community High School), the Blount House which became the Richard Bennett Furniture Store (now Indy Cycle Specialist), and the Irvington Print Shop (now a used car lot). These stories were researched by members of the Irvington Historical Society and include pictures from the archival collection.

The digital collection is available online at irvingtonhistorical.info in a series of YouTube videos. The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. in the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave. Patrons are required to wear masks inside and observe social distancing. Admission is free but a donation to keep the doors open is encouraged.
