Horseshoes Lose a Tough One

The Baltimore Ravens are a contending team. They have an explosive offense and a brick wall defense. The Colts effort against them last Sunday was close. The defense held the Ravens to 24 points and played well. The offense just could not get anything going, particularly in the second half. Philip Rivers fell back into his bad habits. There was no running game and the receivers were inadequate. The Colts lost 24-10 and are 5-3 at the halfway point in the season.
The easy part of their schedule is now behind them. The second half of the season — the Packers, the Steelers, both Titan games, the Raiders — are all ahead. There are both of the Texan games and the Jaguars as well. But frankly I do not see the team going better than 3-5 in the second half to finish 8-8.
The problem is the quarterback. Rivers isn’t the guy. The team will either have to draft a quarterback or sign a free agent. There is talk that Coach Reich would like to bring Carson Wentz to the team. Wentz’s contract with the Eagles expires in 2021 and Reich worked with Wentz in 2016-17 and was impressed by  him.
Anyway I believe the 2020 playoffs are not realistic at this point. I hope I’m wrong but it seems like a longshot at best. The Colts are at Tennessee this Thursday night.

Chase is the Champ

Congratulations to 24 year old William Clyde “Chase” Elliot upon winning the 2020 NASCAR Cup. Elliot drives the 39 Hendricks Motorsports Chevy. He started his NASCAR career in 2015. This year he collected 5 wins and had 15 top 5 finishes. Best of luck to Chase and many more years of championship driving.
