Irvington Halloween Festival Events Oct. 23-30

IRVINGTON — The Historic Irvington Halloween Festival is more than just the street fair, which has been cancelled due to the pandemic. There are still many events in Irvington that everyone in the family can enjoy.
The Great Irvington Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held Friday, Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. There will be 20 free pumpkins to give out to participants, handed out on Friday, Oct. 23 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. First come first serve. Adults and children who want to participate in the pumpkin carving contest can drop off their creations in Irving Circle on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All pumpkins will be lit on Halloween night through November 4th for the neighborhood to enjoy!
On Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1:30 p.m., the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival committee will host the Artists Show and Founders Day Awards Presentation on the lawn at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave. The Founders Awards this year will be honoring Scott Irons (Indy Cycle Specialist), Nancy Duncan and Mick McGrath and Bob and Laura Stark (Jockamos), historic preservationist and community activists Steve and Sue Barnett, and local artist Laura Hildreth. Admission is free. Masks and social distancing are required.
The Spooky Organ Concert will stream live from Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Sunday, Oct.25 at 6 p.m. You can listen in on the Our Lady of Lourdes Web site, www.ollindy.org, or on their Facebook page. There will also be a canned food drive in the parking lot of the church, 5333 E. Washington St. — help pack the pantries for the season!
Register NOW for A Night of Spirits, which will be held at the Irvington Lodge on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for the seance, which is held at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and readings are $10 for a half-hour. Tickets sold only at the Magic Candle, 203 S. Audubon.
Check out the Blood Drive in the Irvington Library parking lot, 5625 E. Washington St., on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 2:30-7:00 p.m. There is a critical blood shortage in Central Indiana, and they can use every last drop they can get.
A Night Out in Sleepy Hollow spooky stories will be told streaming online on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. on the Irvington Halloween Web site, and also on the Facebook page.
To make keep you safer from the flu creepy-crawlies, there will be a free flu shot clinic on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Community Hospital East, 1500 N. Ritter in the Main Lobby. Shots are for those 18 and older.
The Vampire Run, the annual 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct.31 at 10 a.m. starting at the Black Acre Beer Garden, 5529 Bonna Ave. Participants over 21 receive a free beer at the end! Check in is 9 a.m.-10 a.m. at the tables outside the Beer Garden entrance.
