Applause!: Sept. 11-17

• The Irvington Farmer’s Market will be held Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon-3 p.m. at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair. The COVID-19 edition of the market requires visitors to wear masks, practice social distancing while shopping, and follow the arrows to ensure minimal contact. No pets are allowed, sorry. Vendors include only produce, meats, cheeses, some prepared foods, and personal care products.
• Some very exciting things are going on in Indy’s east side! We visited two new establishments at the Circle City Industrial Complex for First Friday. The new facilities for Dance Kaleidescope are truly fantastic, and will allow their talented dancers to create and rehearse (and perform for limited audiences in October) in a state-of-the-art space. We also visited the Fowling Warehouse, which just opened at the end of the building, and learned all about the sport of fowling — a cross between bowling and football. It is a great place for affordable fun!
• The National Weather Service analysis of this past summer showed that we had slightly higher temps and less rain than usual. Actually, the NWS indicated parts of the state were Abnormally Dry, and others were in a Moderate Drought in July. They are also predicting slightly higher than average temps for fall, so we may have more chances to finish our outdoor tasks.
• Did you know the thrift store at Irvington Methodist Church is open in the basement? Located 30 N. Audubon Rd, is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (fall hours).
