• Some handy numbers to have around after storms: IPL Outage line is 317-261-8111. Downed trees in the public right-of-way, and flooded streets should be reported to Indianapolis Public Works via the Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622. Only use 911 if there is a fire or life-threatening emergency.
• It’s very discouraging to see a respected local business recently violated the crowd restrictions and did not enforce mask and social distancing requirements. The city fined them for the violation, but that will not help the folks who may have been exposed to COVID-19 in the crowd. Everyone needs to do their part to help prevent the further spread of this virus — mask up, keep your distance, and wash your hands, please!
• IMPD East District Task Force meetings, which usually take place the second Wednesday of the month at East District headquarters, have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. The meetings were a very important source of information about public safety on the east side, and gave everyone a chance to meet officers and leadership. We hope for better days when everyone can get together safely!
